About Zuliv

Zuliv is a simple hostel boarding web-based platform for college students in Guwahati, Assam. Founded by two engineers who struggled to find a good hostel boarding service, Zuliv aims to make the scouting experience for outsiders and students, a very simple and subscription based process.

THE BRANDING

Zuliv: A reflection of Assam

The founders of Zuliv requested for a logo and branding that:

  1. Represents Assam to outsiders, and makes it feel welcoming.

  2. A simple, minimal branding, with a quirky and fun brand language.

THE WEBSITE

Competitor Analysis and Screens

I searched up existing flows of apps like Airbnb, MakeMyTrip, Agoda and listed points where it was conflicting for users in Guwahati. We also conducted a Google Forms survey with immigrant students and rental owners in Guwahati. Here's what we found..


What they required:

  1. Minimum steps to list their homes on rent.

  2. Maximum pictures and reviews.

  3. Direct calls instead of in-app/platform messaging because of network issues.

  4. Essential information to be made available after paying a nominal amount.


So, we fixed it!

BRANDING

Colors

With the classic red color to symbolise "Assam", the other colors were used as accents for readability. Greens and Yellows were taken to show it's connection to nature and earth.

Wordmark Structure

Logomark

The Logomark is versatile and can be used across various backgrounds: Dark, Light and Neutral, making it perfect for use on different mediums.

One size fits all? Nope.

Although Airbnb and MakeMyTrip are booking giants, they are not very well received by users in Guwahati, who prefer shorter booking methods and direct calls from tenants, instead of text messages.

Effective communication with clients helps understand what they really need, and feel about their organisation.
